The Embassy of Bangladesh in Seoul observed the National Expatriates’ Day 2023 on 30 December 2023. The Embassy officials, the Bangladeshi expatriates living in the Republic of Korea and Korean nationals spontaneously participated in the event. On the occasion of National Expatriates’ Day 2023, the Embassy awarded Bangladeshi expatriates and Korean employers for their outstanding contributions.

The programme commenced with reading out of the messages of Hon’ble President, Hon’ble Prime Minister, Hon’ble Foreign Minister and Hon’ble Minister of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment and displaying the video documentary sent by the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment. First Secretary (Labour) Mr. Mikon Tangchanggya gave a brief speech highlighting various initiatives undertaken by the Government of Bangladesh and the role of the Embassy for the welfare of the Bangladeshi expatriates in this regard.

Bangladesh Ambassador to the Republic of Korea H.E. Mr. Delwar Hossain, in his remark, warmly congratulated all the Bangladeshi expatriates living in the Republic of Korea while acknowledging their significant contribution to Bangladesh’s economy. He highlighted various ongoing developments and positive initiatives of the Government in the field of migration and for the welfare of Bangladeshi expatriates. He also put forward the plans and efforts of the Embassy for the welfare of Bangladeshi expatriates in Korea and the expansion of the Bangladeshi labour market in Korea.

The next session was the awards ceremony. Twenty-two (22) Bangladeshi EPS workers in seven (07) categories which included sending the highest amount of foreign exchange, staying under the same employer for the longest period of time, receiving awards from the Korean Government, attaining language proficiency & vocational training and engaging in voluntary services. Ten (10) Korean employers were honoured for employing the highest number of Bangladeshi EPS workers. The awardees received mementoes and certificates of appreciation from Ambassador Delwar Hossain. The awards ceremony was followed by a cultural programme participated by the Bangladeshi expatriates.
